Sino Iron Emergency Shower and Eye Wash Stations
Advanced Pump Technologies was contracted in 2011 to construct of containerised pump stations and control systems to supply water to the emergency shower and eye wash stations at Sino Iron’s Cape Preston projects. The pump stations are located at the Port, Concentrator, and Crusher facilities on the site. The project consisted of seven (7) 20ft shipping containers each fitted out with the required pumps, controls, and manifolds to ensure simple installation and commissioning on-site.
Each containerised pump station consists of two twin pump sets utilising Lowara ESV series 316L vertical multi-stage pumps. The pumps are mounted on galvanised steel skid bases. All manifolds in the system are 316-grade stainless steel with valving as required by the client.
A control system utilising Allen Bradley PLC equipment with 10” colour touch screens was specified for the project for local pump control and monitoring. The PLC automates pump rotation and fault condition monitoring, flow and pressure sensing, and supply water level sensing. In addition to this the control system has also been fitted with a power transfer switch to automatically switch between incoming mains power and generator power in the event of a power failure. Systems Integrator, Automation Alliance was responsible for the design and programming of the control system.
The project was completed in May 2012.
